Lane Cove Council commissioned me to digitally design this mural which was then printed and installed across a 180-metre long wall in a public laneway.
Research into Lane Cove’s history revealed an area rich in natural beauty – think green bushland rolling down to glittering blue coves. I wanted to reflect some of this bountiful vibrancy in my work, and impart a sense of joy and playfulness for viewers strolling by.
I titled it Song of a Little Bird That Fell in Love with a Whale, a lyric from the hauntingly beautiful Tom Waits song Fish & Bird. In essence, the song is about loving one another, even if we each live in different worlds and may not quite understand the other’s.
